Comment overall to this process:
Knowing that you haven’t had time to go thru each page of the website yet in specific i do want to make this comment about our 4 week project. What was paid for in specific of our contract was 80hours of very specific work and tasks to the end of technical seo. Some design aspects were required to meet some of those needs and the removal/refinement of some design aspects were required to achieve and meet this need. Every single one of the 80 hours i estimated this project would take was used to address all of the concerns and as well re-develop the site into specifically a production that could be used by any contributor at any level removing the need for a “web designer” skill set to edit the details of the site.
There are 10,000 things still to be done to the content areas of the site:
There are without a doubt things that have not been addressed in this process that we could spend months and months on going thru lists of things fixing that even putting a new theme in place would not of solved without a re-design of every single and individual page of the site. That process is outside of the scope of our agreed to tasks.
In admitting that, I am not saying it shouldn’t be done, i’m saying that we spent the time fixing higher level bleeding technical issues that were blocking your main efforts of doing seo on the site at all.
we can re-continue with design stuff outside of scope of this contract after this entire process is 100% complete.
The site should, from a design perspective, appear relatively unchanged from exactly what it was in previous with the exception of a few minor changes to the overall skeleton of the site as well as specific changes to the layout of about 5 pages and a fully different layout for all team pages going forward which were all individually addressed
In a first 4-week step to of brought your site from where it was to where it is today was an enormous effort that took way more than 80 hours but is ok because thats what the fair market price is for such a change to the site.
there is a sentiment of “its good enough for public but it can definitely be refined thru the life of the site.” While that barometer is different for everyone, I am 100% committed to making sure we don’t present the site with egg on our face but I don’t want to get too distracted with design changes that aren’t part of the scope of our existing process.
